A little fine print: Adult meal purchases $7 or more are eligible for a free kid’s meal. One free kid’s meal per adult purchase.
Growing barbeque company recognized by TDn2K for second consecutive year
January 31, 2019
COLUMBUS, Ohio—TDn2K has named City Barbeque as the winner of the 2019 Best Practices Award in the Fast-Casual segment. This honor, which recognizes exemplary performance, workplaces, and workforce operations in foodservice, is awarded based on retention of general managers and hourly employees, workforce diversity, and compensation practices, as well as initiatives and efforts in community involvement, corporate responsibility, employee foundations and sustainable business practices. Nominees were honored for excellence in their segment of the industry; other winners included J. Gilbert’s, LongHorn Steakhouse, NORMS Restaurants, The Cheesecake Factory, and The Wendy’s Company.
Chief People Officer Ronnie Berry accepted the award on behalf of City Barbeque on January 29 at the Global Best Practices Conference in Dallas, Texas. “This award is a tribute to our operators, who are out there serving and creating happiness every day,” says Berry. “We know we can’t create happiness if we aren’t happy ourselves, so we work to foster connections and strive for a family dynamic within our teams. And then we focus on aligning our goals: serving guests competition-quality barbeque and experiences with a sense of genuine backyard hospitality; getting a little better every day, and staying true to who we are. We are honored to receive this recognition, and humbled to be in the same category with such distinguished peers as Portillo’s, La Madeleine, and The Habit Burger.” City Barbeque was named a runner-up in the 2018 Best Practices Awards.
City Barbeque continues to earn accolades not just for its award-winning barbeque, but for its company practices as well: in November 2018, Columbus CEO named the company best employer (in any industry, not just restaurants) for the third year in a row.
