We’re so excited to introduce our two newest scratch-made menu items, just in time for fall: Brunswick Stew and Southwest Slaw!

Folks have been asking, and we’re so happy to answer: City Barbeque now has Brunswick Stew! This made-from-scratch barbeque staple features award-winning brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, homemade chicken stock, sweet corn, black beans, green peppers… and that’s just the half of it! We’ll be selling the stew as a side ($2.79) or a bowl ($5.49) for you to get your Brunswick fix.

Looking for something lighter? Our healthy, house-made Southwest Slaw features superfood greens, sweet corn, black beans, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, and fresh jalapeno in a cilantro lime vinaigrette. (This slaw’s not spicy: that hand-diced jalapeno just adds a terrific kick!) Get your kicks now with a side of Southwest Slaw for $2.79, or pick up a pint or quart to take to fall’s first potluck.

Keep it real with our take on a barbeque classic, or keep on track with our fresh new superfood slaw—you can do both starting today! But remember, these new faves are only around for a limited time, so get your stew/slaw on while you can.

UPDATE, UPDATE… we’re now also serving your favorite, classic seasonal side: Sweet Potato Casserole! Our sweet potato casserole starts out every day as fresh sweet potatoes. It ends the day as a scratch-made casserole, served with a crunchy topping of brown sugar and pecans.

The wait is over.. Sweet Potato Casserole is back!

FINDLAY, Ohio—City Barbeque, LLC has acquired the assets of Fresh BBQ, LLC, which owned and operated the City Barbeque location at 15033 Flag City Drive in Findlay, Ohio.

“Fresh BBQ, LLC, the franchisee which previously owned and operated the Findlay joint, is returning the business to the original founding company, City Barbeque,” said Rick Malir, City Barbeque CEO. “The City Barbeque team is excited to start operations of this location and bring award-winning barbeque to Findlay.”

City Barbeque Findlay has temporarily closed and will undergo a major renovation over the next few months. The restaurant is expected to fire up the smokers again later this year, and will celebrate with a Grand Reopening (details to be announced).

All previously placed catering orders will be fulfilled during the restaurant’s temporary closure. When the joint reopens, folks in Findlay will be able to experience the award-winning barbeque that the company is known for nationwide.

Follow City Barbeque on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for more details on the reopening festivities.

At City Barbeque, we try to serve and create happiness in every way we can—from treating someone to a banana pudding, on the house, to giving back thousands of dollars to our communities every year. This National Nonprofit Day, we’re asking you to join our mission of service and happiness creation!

Do you work or volunteer for a nonprofit? Could $500 worth of free barbeque amplify your mission? Maybe you’ve got volunteers who need fed. Maybe, by offering free barbeque at an event, you’d get a bigger turnout to help fix up a home, or build a playground, or raise more funds. How can we help you serve others and create happiness?

Check out the post on our Facebook page, and comment with your plan for turning $500 worth of BBQ into something even better for the community. (Not on Facebook? You can also email your idea directly to rach@citybbq.com.) Don’t work for a nonprofit or do-good group, but know one who’d be interested? Share our Facebook post and let them know to enter!

From August 17–26, we’ll review all submitted plans and select our favorite to start with, then we’ll work with that organization to figure out how to best get them their barbeque: could be a gift card, could be some Party Packs, could be hundreds of award-winning brisket sandwiches. We’ll also be happy to help promote the great thing they’ve got planned (and who knows, maybe we can help out even more!).

Entries will be accepted through August 26, and the actual event or activity should be completed by the end of October 2018. We’re excited to share the wonderful thing you’ve accomplished!

We’re excited to hear from you and to help support your service to the community with some free ‘que!

We’re big fans of fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers—all of ‘em! To help you celebrate the special guys in your life, we’re giving away coozies this Father’s Day, June 17. Bring in your dad for some ‘que and surprise him with a free treat from his favorite barbeque joint 🙂

And someone’s dad is gonna get the ultimate BBQ gift: we’re giving away a $100 gift card! Just share a selfie of you and your pops enjoying some City Barbeque and you’re entered to win. Just be sure to tag #citybbq so we see it! (Dad doesn’t do social? Just email your selfie to jordan@citybbq.com to enter.) Winner will be randomly chosen and notified on Wednesday, June 20.

And if still need a Father’s Day gift but don’t want to buy him another tie, we’ve got your back! From now until Father’s Day, for every $30 in gift cards you buy, we’ll throw in a $5 bonus card for you!**

* Free coozie available with any purchase on Sunday, June 17, 2018.
** Bonus card offer valid through June 17.

Folks at City Barbeque have been acting pretty jolly, and for good reason: ‘tis the season… for barbeque! We know that barbeque’s really a 24/7/365 lifestyle, but summer feels so BBQ-y. And—while we love having folks in to eat with us at the joint—we know that sometimes, a pulled pork sandwich just tastes better when you’re eating it in your own backyard. Planning your own start-of-summer party? Here are our three best backyard BBQ tips!

First things first: don’t run out of food
Can’t have a BBQ without BBQ. Whether you invited four folks or the full neighborhood, we’ve got the perfect Party Pack for your backyard party!

Look like a pro: carve it at home
Picture it: you bring home a whole brisket or pork shoulder and carve it up at the party. Everyone will be super impressed, plus you’ll be the hero handing out sandwiches. (And we won’t tell anyone you didn’t smoke it yourself, promise!)

Maximize your party time: skip the line
Got your Party Packs all picked out? Once you’ve got the menu set, just order your favorites online, pick ‘em up at the joint, and get the party started that much sooner!

COLUMBUS, Ohio—City Barbeque has earned another accolade for its ever-growing list of awards: The Daily Meal has named the company to the top five barbeque joints in the US for 2018. In the publication’s annual ranking of America’s 25 Best Barbecue Chains, City Barbeque landed the #5 spot. Daily Meal editors lauded the company’s “eighteen-hour-smoked brisket, two types of pulled pork, turkey breast, pulled chicken with Alabama white sauce, and smoked sausage”—all smoked on-site at each joint—as well as City Barbeque’s scratch-made sides such as corn pudding and collards with pork.

“We are so happy our fans have named us to the top five barbecue chains in the country,” said Brian Hipsher, VP of marketing for City Barbeque. “We’re grateful for their confidence—and are up to the challenge of claiming the number one spot in 2019!”

February 2018 saw City Barbeque named to QSR’s 40/40 List, and ardent fans continue to vote them “Best Barbeque” in regional best-of contests in every market the company serves.
