Folks at City Barbeque have been acting pretty jolly, and for good reason: ‘tis the season… for barbeque! We know that barbeque’s really a 24/7/365 lifestyle, but summer feels so BBQ-y. And—while we love having folks in to eat with us at the joint—we know that sometimes, a pulled pork sandwich just tastes better when you’re eating it in your own backyard. Planning your own start-of-summer party? Here are our three best backyard BBQ tips!

First things first: don’t run out of food
Can’t have a BBQ without BBQ. Whether you invited four folks or the full neighborhood, we’ve got the perfect Party Pack for your backyard party!

Look like a pro: carve it at home
Picture it: you bring home a whole brisket or pork shoulder and carve it up at the party. Everyone will be super impressed, plus you’ll be the hero handing out sandwiches. (And we won’t tell anyone you didn’t smoke it yourself, promise!)

Maximize your party time: skip the line
Got your Party Packs all picked out? Once you’ve got the menu set, just order your favorites online, pick ‘em up at the joint, and get the party started that much sooner!

COLUMBUS, Ohio—City Barbeque has earned another accolade for its ever-growing list of awards: The Daily Meal has named the company to the top five barbeque joints in the US for 2018. In the publication’s annual ranking of America’s 25 Best Barbecue Chains, City Barbeque landed the #5 spot. Daily Meal editors lauded the company’s “eighteen-hour-smoked brisket, two types of pulled pork, turkey breast, pulled chicken with Alabama white sauce, and smoked sausage”—all smoked on-site at each joint—as well as City Barbeque’s scratch-made sides such as corn pudding and collards with pork.

“We are so happy our fans have named us to the top five barbecue chains in the country,” said Brian Hipsher, VP of marketing for City Barbeque. “We’re grateful for their confidence—and are up to the challenge of claiming the number one spot in 2019!”

February 2018 saw City Barbeque named to QSR’s 40/40 List, and ardent fans continue to vote them “Best Barbeque” in regional best-of contests in every market the company serves.

May is National Barbecue Month, and we’ve decided to spend the month in service to our communities. All month long, our teams will be bringing our bringing award-winning smoked meats and house-made sides to folks in local shelters in every market we serve:

Our Chicago teammates brought dinner to Unity Lutheran Church of Berwyn’s homeless shelter (and worked with youth volunteers to bake cookies on-site for dessert!).

In Kentucky, our Lexington team have already served at the Hope Center, and our Louisville team will serve at Volunteers of America’s Family Emergency Shelter later this month.

Up in Ohio, our Cincinnati teams will bring barbeque to folks at City Gospel Mission, Columbus teams will bring dinner to the men’s shelter at Faith Mission Emergency Shelter, Toledo teammates will serve families at Family House Toledo, and our teams in Dayton will be feeding folks at the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter for Men.

Our Indianapolis teams will serve dinner to families at the Dayspring Center, and our folks in Atlanta will bring dinner to one of Women’s Resource Center’s safe houses.

And in North Carolina, our Charlotte teams will serve the Harvest Center of Charlotte as well as Angels & Sparrows Soup Kitchen, while Raleigh will bring dinner to both the Shepard’s Table Soup Kitchen and the Salvation Army of Wake County’s Family Emergency Shelter.

We’re also celebrating National Barbecue Month by releasing the first in an annual series of hand-drawn, hand-printed, hand-signed posters. Want one? You’ll need to act fast: only 150 individually numbered prints will be produced!

You can snap up one of these incredible silkscreened posters for $40—a very limited quantity will be available for purchase at each of our joints—and all proceeds support our charitable efforts for National Barbecue Month.
