To show our appreciation for our military women and men, we’re giving vets and troops a free sandwich, two sides and a regular drink on Saturday, November 11!

Know a vet? We’re making it easy for you to say thanks—bring them in on Veterans Day and their lunch is on us! Share this with the vets you know and spread the love!

Home of the Free because of the Brave

Thank you to all that bought a limited-edition tumbler this year – with your help, we raised $12,500 to benefit veterans living with traumatic brain injury. These funds, which represent 200% of profits from the sale of our limited edition tumbler, was donated to the Resurrecting Lives Foundation in conjunction with National Brain Injury Awareness month (March).

Established in 2012, the Resurrecting Lives Foundation supports the estimated 20–25% of troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with traumatic brain injury, helping these veterans successfully transition to post-military lives and careers. This is the third year we’ve raised funds to support Resurrecting Lives and its mission of advocacy, aid, fundraising, and research; we’ve donated $37,500 to date with your help! In her recognition of last year’s contribution, Resurrecting Lives founder and executive director Dr. Chrisanne Gordon thanked us “for engaging the entire community in this effort to support our military members, veterans, and their families affected by traumatic brain injury.”

Giving back is central to our culture: we also proudly partner with the American Cancer Society, Future Farmers of America, and Food Rescue, as well as local organizations in each of our communities. Would you rather just pick it up from your local joint?

No problem, our party packs are perfect for parties small and large!

Click here to order online or call your local joint for help planning your shindig… we are  here to help!

We’ve been helping grads throw killer parties for years and here are a few tips from our experience:

  • Whatever you do, don’t run out of food- for a meal we suggest ordering 1 pound of meat for every 3 to 4 people and figure 5oz. of each side dish per person.
  • Finger foods help promote socializing…our Sandwich Packs make 12 quarter pound sandwiches and come with pickles, pickled onions, buns and sauce.  Stock up – your guests will want more than one!
  • Reduce costs by joining forces with other graduating friends. Chances are, your guest lists are similar, so your dollars will go further if you combine all the individual celebrations into one big one.
  • Delegate to others so you’re free to mingle with guests…our catering staff can do more than just serve food- they’ll help you set up the buffet, clean up, etc. Just let us know what level of service you’re looking for and we’ll handle it! Or I’m sure Cousin Eddie would be happy to refill drinks 🙂

We look forward to helping you throw a party you’ll be proud of with food people talk about!

Thursday, folks across the country will gather around a table to enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends. But the picture may be different for the more than 42 million people in the United States living with food insecurity. In 2015, there were 15.8 million households across the country unable to get the food they needed at some point during the year—and the percentage of food-insecure folks in Ohio, Kentucky, and North Carolina is above the US average.

How can we help? Well, at City Barbeque, we’ve adopted the Food Rescue model. Food Rescue connects restaurants to food pantries and similar organizations, who can get our food to families who need it. We freeze surplus food at the end of each day and volunteers arrive weekly to transport the frozen food to local pantries. Just like everything we serve, the smoked meats and scratch-made sides we donate are held to the highest standards, and they freeze beautifully, allowing them to be safely transferred from our kitchens to the plates of folks in need.

Ronnie Berry, our Vice President of People Services, is on the board of Food Rescue, and was responsible for getting City Barbeque involved in the program. “It gives our joints a real opportunity to connect to families in need, right in their backyard,” he says. Berry estimates that, in 2016 alone, City Barbeque has provided more than 30,000 meals to food-insecure folks in the areas we serve.

You may have heard us say we’re proud to donate 10% of our pre-tax profits to charities and non-profits in the communities we serve. That’s true: we do make those donations, and we are more than proud to do so. But maybe you’re wondering how your charity, non-profit, school, team, or club can get in on that action? It’s super simple, y’all—hold a fundraiser!

Fundraising with City Barbeque is a win-win situation. You get to enjoy the city’s best barbeque with your family and friends, and your organization gets 25% of those sales! Well, maybe it’s a win-win-win: we love doing fundraisers and giving back to our communities, so we win, too.

Wondering how to hold a fundraiser? No sweat! We do these all the time, so we’ve got the process down to a slow-smoked science. We’ll give you the tools to help you meet your fundraising goals: flyers to distribute & best tips on how to get the word out.

Visit our fundraising page to learn more. There you’ll find our guidelines, an application, and examples of groups in your community that are already sharing the love with the help of City Barbeque. We want to add you to the list—schedule your fundraising date now!
